Mega Development Study

  • Partnered with DOE & ORNL
  • High Density Housing, Mega Developments &∓ Constrained Urban Centers: An Assessment of Arizona and Nevada Comparing Central Power to a Distributed Energy Approach. This assessment quantified the magnitude of the growth wave in Arizona and Nevada, assed the build-out schedule of projected mega developments and high density housing in comparison to the current utility expansion plans; model the energy consumption and emissions profiles of a business-as-usual (i.e., conventional energy) services approach and an integrated “IES, HP, TAT” energy cost and benefits of the two approaches in terms of resource efficiency, environment impact and regional economics; and develop a blueprint for moving forward with integrated DE approaches to concentrated population growth.

Development of GEDAC Packaged Gas Engine Driven Heat Pump

Natural Gas Engine Driven Air Conditioner (GEDAC) for Demonstration Test on Military Installations (DOD Phase 1)

  • To design, develop, install, operate and test up to ten (10) units GEDAC units at a number of DOD installations in the Southwest USA.

  • To design, develop, install, operate and test five (5) GEDAC units at five DOD installations in the Southwest USA.
Natural Gas Engine Driven Air Conditioner (GEDAC) Demonstration Test on Military Installations (DOD Phase III)

  • Multi-Year Award in the amount of $2.1M in 2009
  • To design, develop, install, operate and test five (5) GEDAC units at the Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona.
  • Develop a proof-of-concept self contained dark start heat pump prototype unit.
Natural Gas Engine Driven Air Conditioner (GEDAC) Demonstration Test on Military Installations (DOD Phase IV)
